Calhoun Bryans

Hello everyone!
this is all new to us.. so we hope you get this. All is well here. It rained for a while but weather has been great lately. Ken planted 10 pounds of potatoes and plans to have about 1000 sweet corn seeds in the ground this weekend. Soccer is over for Hannah so our Saturdays are free. Right now the girls are on spring break and i have been painting and i am too old... ha I am hurting and sore but i will conquer the room.. ha this blog thing is great. let me know if someone gets this.. ha later, lisa ****** Ken went to S.E. Huey Co. today to discuss creating lots for the land across the street. he found out that the parish ordinances will only allow you to sell up to four lots without creating a subdivision. Five or more lots constitutes a subdivision and has to have police jury approval of street design, all utilities, effects of the water shed and also health dept approval. An engineer will give estimate on coordinating the consolidation of all this info, including bids for construction for the road and installation of utilities. Needless to say this is all over Ken's head .... help... Ken welcomes any input, info, opinions, suggestions... anything. especially prayers

  • Wow. Life is sure differant in the south. I'm afraid that today I was unable to plant much of anything. Much less 1000 sweet corn seeds and 10 pounds of potatoes. :-)
Instead I sat in an office all day and watched the rain outside wishing I was able to run out in it and get soaked. That would have been nice. Good to hear from you Lisa! Wish I could have come to see you and the fam with my parents, maybe next time.

  • Hi Lisa,

We don't have a clue about property stuff either. I'll tell Holmes to look at the blog--maybe he'll have an idea!

And Lisa, you are the baby in the family so you can't get old!

  • Hi Lisa and Ken!

Your post of April 4 didn't show up till today. Sounds like the land development is getting complicated. And it's probably going to cost a lot before we see any benefit. Robert warned us of this. How much would it cost to get the engineer's estimate? I would want to know that before proceeding.

On another subject, I got some forms for a claim with Valley Forge Life Ins over the weekend, but the info was sketchy. Is this one of Dad's policies? It names me as a beneficiary but doesn't say who the deceased is - I'm supposed to fill that in. Let me know if you know anything about this.

I'll try to call this weekend to discuss the land further. Glad you're getting some planting done. Wish we could be there to help.
